Step 1: Get Emotional Support
It is extraordinarily helpful for you to find someone who will sit and listen to
you so that you can speak freely about your hopes, fears, and dreams. Give yourself
permission and time to share your thoughts and feelings about having cancer. Find
someone to talk to who can accept your feelings. He or she does not have to be a
professional. Please remember that there is no right way to feel about cancer and
no correct way to react. There is only YOUR way.
